Ryan laughed when he heard Lee getting confused on her comment about being a sea monster. Really, what an airhead. She shook her head amusedly without losing pace, even when Lee shouted, "Wait a minute! Hey you, I wasn't born yesterday!" She had decided to ignore the guy and that was what she was doing. She really didn't want to have to babysit someone new to Teh Planet as well as Billy. Billy was work enough as it is. Ryan had thought that she'd lost the annoying gigantic stranger but she didn't let the surprise show on her face when Lee caught up with her.

"Hey what's your deal anyway?! Have I done anything to offend you so bad you have to act this way towards me?"

"What's my deal? My deal? I'm not the one going around following complete strangers now, am I?" she snapped. If she had been a few inches taller, she probably would have looked menacing but it was kind of hard to take a midget like her seriously. And Ryan knew it. She sighed and looked ahead. Just in time, too, because they were just nearing an escalator. She stepped onto it and was irritated when Lee did, too.

"Look, man, see this? I'm minding my own business, yeah? Why don't you do the same? Or would you prefer I ask these guards to escort you out of Teh Mall? I can do a killer damsel-in-distress routine," she warned, smirking as she jabbed her head towards the direction of one of the security guards.

Anytime now and Lee would have blown up, it scared him since he was prone to rage blackouts, what could possibly be the worst place to make such a scene than a mall. Lee took a deep breathe and tried to sound as calm as he could, shouting and drawing bad attention towards himself was probably what the little stranger would have wanted. "Well if you would have been nicer in the first place, then maybe I would have left you alone if you just asked!" Lee yelled.

Finally off the escalator, Lee was about to turn towards a different direction when the words repeated in his ears. I can do a killer damsel-in-distress routine. He said. HE said. The little stranger said. Lee would have burst out laughing if he wasn't so surprised. "Damsel-in-distress?! You?! Ha!" Lee snapped, a nasty grin pasted on his face. "I can't help say this but... that's a really gay thing to say!" And he burst out laughing.

Then he stopped, and his eyes widened to the point his eyeballs could all of the sudden pop out. He turned to carefully study the little stranger's features. Could it be...? Oh crap.

Nicer. He wanted her to be nicer. Ah, well. These uppity spoiled kids were always full of themselves. Surely, present company was no different. Still, though, Ryan thought that he must be very sheltered to think that everyone should be nice to strangers they've just met who seem to be stalking them. She paused, realising that she was near the place where she agreed to meet up with her mom. It wouldn't do for her to hear Ryan fighting with another guy again. She checked her watch. It was just about time for her to meet up her mom and it didn't look like Lee was going to leave anytime soon. Ryan let out a sigh of exasperation. She turned to face Lee and was surprised to see that he was starting to walk away.

Well, good riddance.

She was starting to walk in the opposite direction when she heard him retort, "Damsel-in-distress?! You?! Ha! I can't help say this but... that's a really gay thing to say!"

Ryan could feel the tic in her forehead as she paused on her tracks. Oh, that was a big mistake. Everything else he'd been doing up until then, she could walk away from. But to think that she, Ryan, was a guy? That was inexcusable. She was breathing heavily and her hands balled into fists as she turned around and stomped over to Lee.

"I'm a GIRL, dimwit," she said through gritted teeth.

"I'm a GIRL, you dimwit," she said through gritted teeth.

Oh shit. Let me point out something important... when you give a girl the idea that you think she's a guy, especially a flat-chested short one that looks like she can beat you up dead, you know that you're screwed, everyone near you is screwed, and everything else that has to do with you is screwed. Lee didn't know what to do, the little stranger who happened to be FEMALE stomped towards him like a raging bull with an urge to kill, if Lee moved now, he could probably run and lose her to the crowd. But it was too late. He gulped.

Despite her height, she looked up to him like she was feet taller than he was in all her scary glory. Lee had to think fast. "Uh... um... I knew that, I was just... uh... fooling around with you, y'know? I mean c'mon, it was just a joke, right? All this could be fixed with a good old-fashioned apology?" She didn't reply.

"Oh hey! I can treat you somewhere, ANYwhere, anything pa-particular you cra-craving for? Ma-maybe clothes! That's right, clothes! I can get you clothes, you could probably use a new tee, or a nice pair jeans?" Her facial expression did not change one bit.

"Lo-look, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have followed you in the first place, aight?" Lee was just about to make a desperate turn for an escape when an unfamiliar voice came from a distance.

"Ryan! Thank God I found you, I changed my mind, there's this lovely new coffee shop that just opened in the eatery area and they're serving American mash potatoes! The humans are saying it's really good, just like back on Earth, and good Lord I haven't had it in decades since we moved here." Said a woman clearly human like Ryan with a bubbly personality about her, she was brushing the little stranger's fringes of her forehead. She looked to her side and spotted Lee. "Friend of yours?" Before the woman could respond, she quickly moved towards him. "Why hello there!"

Lee turned in shock.

Ryan seethed as the wimpy rich kid stuttered, apparently realising his mistake in thinking that Ryan was a guy. She was used to it by now, of course, but she still loved giving a hard time to the people who mistook her for a guy. It was the only amusement she could get from the now-annoying misconception. She barely held in a bark of a laugh as she saw him look around like a deer trapped in the headlights.

She let out a groan as he tried to bribe her with his money. These kids, they were all the same. They think they can get away with anything with all their cash.

Well, actually, food would be nice... She was starting to think when he mentioned he could also buy her nice clothes. She tilted her head toward his direction so he could see the full blown glint in her eyes.

"You think my clothes aren't nice enough, chump?" she challenged when, at that instant, there was an insistent beeping by her wrist. She stopped advancing towards the unfortunate Lee and fiddled with her wristwatch.

Damn, I'm late.

And as if on cue, she heard the loud shrill of her mother's voice. The colour drained from Ryan's face as she slowly turned around to face her mother, who was excitedly bounding towards Ryan and the annoying stranger that was Lee.

"Mom! I was just about to look for you and Billy" but her words were thrown back to her as her mom let out an excited flurry of words, brushing the stray bangs off Ryan's forehead.

"Moooom," Ryan complained, but her mother never listened, of course.

"Right then, coffee shop and hash browns. Let's go!" she interrupted her mother, hoping that she hadn't noticed Lee. But Mrs. Hughes was quick and expertly manuevered out of her daughter's grasp.

"Linda Hughes. I'm Ryan's mom. Lee, is it? That's a nice name," Mrs. Hughes said in greeting to Lee, holding out a hand and grinning madly.

"I've never met him before in my life. Can we go? Billy's hungry," Ryan lied. The little boy in question had been uncharacteristically quiet during the whole exchange and Ryan now shoved a lollipop into his protesting mouth to keep him from saying that he wasn't hungry. He grinned up at his older sister and didn't say a word.

"Nonsense, Ryan. I know when you're lying. You were just talking to this young man before Billy and I showed up," Mrs. Hughes insisted.

Busted.

"Oh you'll have to excuse my daughter, she gets really shy when she's caught talking to boys, especially by her own mother." The woman named Linda said, closing her eyes in frustration by the fact Ryan has never opened up to her about boys, physical insecurities, or even asked her about... sex.

Lee just blinked in silence.

"You're not quite the talker, are you?" Linda asked. "Oh, well no wonder you my daughter get along!"

Lee thought for awhile and remembered, so this is the short chick's mom, and she called her Ryan when she came over. The short chick's name's Ryan?! Strange name for a girl! Either way, Linda came along in the best of times, or Lee would have been beaten up to a pulp. Then he noticed a little boy right next to Ryan. Ryan's mom followed the direction Lee was looking at and smiled.

"Oh this is my youngest son Billy. Don't be fooled by this little boy's adorable little eyes, he's actually a ticking bomb just waiting to explode."

Lee attempted to smile but Billy all of the sudden popped his lolli out of his mouth and sticked his tounge out mockingly, Linda didn't notice. Lee's eyes twitched, no questions asked where that kid gets his attitude from, eyeing Ryan. Linda was of quite contrast to Ryan, Linda was not bad looking at all, and tall, and NICE! It's really hard to tell she's actually the mother.

"We were just on our way to have lunch, come join us!" Linda said. Before Lee could even protest, Linda just grabbed him by the wrist and motioned Ryan and Billy to follow. Lee struggled to keep up, is it a trend here? "To just drag someone by their wrist when you ask them out?"Lee thought to himself, recalling how he met Mariah. Which reminds him, where is she and Dellion?

"Oh you'll have to excuse my daughter, she gets really shy when she's caught talking to boys, especially by her own mother."

Ryan pretended not to hear her mother's comment and fiddled with the drawstrings of her windbreaker, her mood turning even sourer. At the rate this was going, she was sure that her mother would invite Lee to have lunch with them and, stubborn as her mother was, there was no way that Ryan could change her mind. And Linda was going to assume that Ryan had a thing for Lee, no doubt, and there was also nothing Ryan could tell her that would erase the wrong assumption. Ryan shuddered at the thought that people would assume that she and this annoying rich kid were even slightly associated with each other. She absently patted Billy's head and smirked when, after Linda had introduced the little devil to Lee, Billy stuck his tongue out at the other boy He looked up at his sister and threw a big grin at her before sticking the lollipop back in his mouth. It comforted her to know that she wasn't the only one in this wacky family who didn't take to Lee. Her mother was obviously quite charmed. But maybe it was because she was just desperately clutching at straws and hoping that Ryan would finally get a boyfriend...

"We were just on our way to have lunch, come join us!"

Ryan groaned inwardly. She knew this was going to happen but that didn't make it less annoying. Ryan took her brother's hand and pulled him along, following her mother and Lee. Billy went with her without a fight. Ryan was amazed that he hadn't thrown a tantrum yet but maybe Billy was in a good mood today. Although, she suspected that the lollipop had something to do with it, Billy's favourite lime-grape flavoured lollipop. Ryan personally thought it was gross but it pacified her brother so she had a big stack of it back at her dorm, and in the house. Ryan took he handkerchief from her pocket and wiped some of the sticky candy from a slight protesting Billy's mouth. When she looked up, she frowned when they passed the new restaurant her mother was just gushing about.

"Mom...? I thought we were going to get coffee and hash browns?" Ryan asked. Linda laughed and turned to look at her two children, while still holding onto Lee's hand in a vicelike grip.

"Don't be silly, dear, hash browns and coffee aren't lunch! And besides, I thought we'd go somewhere fancier to celebrate your having a boyfriend!" she exclaimed, winking at Ryan. Ryan turned a shade of apple red and looked away. She'd also predicted this was going to happen but that didn't make it any less embarrassing. She looked straight ahead and they stopped in front of this posh-looking restaurant. Ryan looked up and read the sign, "Bellino?"

"Yes, this restaurant's new, too!" Linda declared before dragging Lee inside. Ryan shrugged and followed her in. Food was food, she wasn't going to complain. They were immediately greeted by a handsome young Italian boy with flowing black hair pulled neatly into a ponytail, who was smiling at them brilliantly. Ryan understood now why her mom had wanted to eat here. Actually, he looks kind of familiar...

"Aren't you one of those guys who follows Diamondjade around?" Ryan asked him, before she could think about what she was saying. The young waiter beamed at her enthusiastically.

"You know Signorina Maria Susan?" he said, looking absolutely smitten as he mentioned Maria's name. If Ryan wasn't in such a bad mood, she would have probably found it funny. Linda eyed her daughter suspiciously. It occurred to her only now that maybe her daughter wasn't some tomboyish girl who paid more attention to sports rather than boys. Maybe she was some tomboyish girl who paid more attention to sports rather than boys who actually had friends! And maybe even boyfriends! But she was too shy to tell her mother. Yes... That could be it. A mad grin tugged on the corners of Linda's lips as she watched Ryan's confused reaction to the waiter's outburst.

Lee argued in his head with countless of excuses he could come up with just so he could get out of this situation, even though this Linda lady seemed really nice, it was the fact that murderous short girl called Ryan was just right behind him, not to mention he was actually having lunch with her. Lee wondered why Ryan didn't seem to be protesting with Linda inviting him over for lunch and looked back at Ryan. He caught her wiping her little brother's mouth and it calmed Lee just seeing that this girl actually had a caring personality about her.

Lee thought for a while and finally decided having lunch with these people wasn't so bad after all. He was pretty hungry anyway.

"Don't be silly, dear, hash browns and coffee aren't lunch! And besides, I thought we'd go somewhere fancier to celebrate your having a boyfriend!" she exclaimed, winking at Ryan.

Lee felt his blood surge right up to his head. "WHAT?!" With the mall bustling with so much people, barely anyone heard or noticed his outburst. He looked back at Ryan again and found her blushing, but it really surprised Lee that she barely did anything to protest with this too. Billy looked up at Lee in annoyance, apparently the little guy didn't feel too comfortable with his sister's "boyfriend" looking at her too much. Just before Lee could say anything to Linda, they finally stopped at their tracks in front of a nice restaurant called "Bellino."

It came to Lee that there were actually places in Teh Planet that would somehow remind him of home. The restaurant looked very human to him. An italian waiter who looked like he was cast in a Dirty Dancing movie came over and greeted them. Ryan apparently seemed to know this person.

After a few exchange of words between the italian waiter and Ryan, they were directed to a table of four and handed menus. The menu was basically a sheet of old-looking paper framed up with a brown leather frame and only consisted of one page, and all it showed were appetizers and starter meals. The back was empty. Lee wondered why each course had to be in different menus until he noticed Linda pressing the lower left corner of the menu. Lee leaned over to look with curiosity and to his shock, the contents of the menu would change.

Lee looked down at his own and then at the place Linda was pressing and saw what supposedly was the corner of the next page folded unto the current one, projecting the menu to have another page. He hesitantly pressed the tip of his forefinger onto it and to his shock, the letters jumbled up until it spelled different words. Now the page displayed a variety of soup and main course meals.

"Whoa, cool." Lee thought aloud, everyone turned to him.

"What's cool?" Linda asked.

"The menus, they could do this." Lee replied, continually pressing the next page button.

Linda laughed. "Ah yes, you're new. Well welcome to Teh Planet son." And proceeded to ordering.

Lee browsed through the choices. Veneto, Campania, Carbonara IN ALL 35O SHAPES OF PASTA... oh here's something interesting, Lazio with baby Thueqiannese dressing. Lee knew what Lazio was but what the hell was Thueqiannese dressing? He turned to the italian waiter. "Excuse me, what is
Thueqiannese dressing?"

"Oh those are aborted children of the Thueqiannese race mashed and mixed with ant larvae, mayonnaise, and black pepper. Quite a popular choice and one of my personal favorites." He replied with a smile.

Lee kept himself from gagging.

"We're in some of the same classes. Could we get a table now?" Ryan was uncomfortable in the sudden interest Giacomo was suddenly paying on her. She hadn't really been thinking when she thought out loud.

"Of course, of course! This way, please!" Giacomo led them swiftly to one of the best tables in the restaurant. "If there is anything the friends of Signorina Diamondjade need, please do not hesitate to ask. I am you waiter, Giacomo," he said with a flamboyant bow. Ryan wanted the ground to swallow her up. As if being forced to eat with Lee wasn't obnoxious enough! Jeez, it was like she was attracting annoying strange men today.

"Is he your boyfriend, too, Ryan?" Billy asked. Thank God Giacomo had already left.

"No, he's not. And neither is Lee," she replied, correcting an assumption that her mother had made earlier. But before Linda could say anything, Giac returned with their menus. Ryan was glad for the distraction as she browsed through dishes.

"Whoa, cool."

Ryan looked up and saw how fascinated Lee was with the menus. Seriously? They don't have interactive menus on earth? Or was this guy really just an idiot? Both were believable, she decided, and proceeded to ignore him. She shook with laughter as Giacomo described to him the Thueqiannese dressing. She had to admit, she never was fond of that stuff but it was funny to hear the weird noises coming from Lee's direction.

"What do you want, Billy?" she asked, turning to her little brother. He was playing with the menu and grinned up at Ryan as she mentioned his name. "Tortellini! Tortellini!" he shouted before turning back to the menu. The things were usually durable but she doubted they were Billy-resistant. She fished out a random toy from her pocket. "Here, Billy, play with this and let's return the menu---" It took a bit of grabbing but she finally got it and placed the toy in Billy's hands before he'd start wailing.

"Hey, you. He'll have the chocolate, cheese and potato tortellini and I'll have the um... Parmonnaise fagottini in violet sauce."

"One chocolate, cheese and potato tortellini and one Parmonnaise fagottini in violet sauce. And what about you, Signora?"

"I'll just have the carbonara ravioli," Linda replied, handing the menu back to Giacomo. He repeated her order and turned to Lee. "Have you made your mind up, yet, signore?"
