Maria was jubilant as she dragged Dellion (looking none too pleased at being hauled around) past the gates and numerous buildings around Teh University, smiling vaguely at those who greeted her as she dashed past them without a word. Her three suitcases bounced cheerfully behind Maria and her new (hostage) friend, levitating, it seemed, at their own accord. She navigated with ease around the buildings that she had grown familiar with over the past year. She stole a glance at her companion and it crossed her mind that maybe Dellion would want a better look at the school.
Ah, well, there will be plenty of time later for a proper tour around the huge campus! Maria thought to herself. For now, she was excited to get to their soon-to-be shared dormitory. She was glad that she had found a new dorm mate so quickly. When her previous dorm mate had graduated the last semester, Maria had been crestfallen to see her leave. They had been rather good friends and Maria had not been looking forward to possibly sleeping alone in her dorm room for a whole semester or more.
Maria liked Dellion for some reason she could not really explain even to herself right now. Dellion seemed to be a bit withdrawn but she seemed nice enough. And there was just something that drew Maria to her. Maybe it was that she was a new foreign student.... In any case, Maria had just convinced that Dellion would be her new project. She would transform Dellion! And she would pretty and popular just like Maria if it was the last thing she did! Maria could see that she had the potential. Her skin and eyes were an intriguing match, plus she was pretty. Of course, not as pretty as Maria. No one could ever rival her beauty but the right makeup could enhance Dellion's features so that she wouldn't look so pale and any girl could look hot with the right clothes...
Maria could barely contain her excitement and, if anyone would have looked, her eyes changed colours from their usual aquamarine to orange, gold, blue-green and back again, echoing the energy building up inside the girl. She didn't even notice the boys stopping to stare at her as she rushed past their dorm and she was simply radiating as she pushed past the doors to the girl's dormitory. The woman behind the reception counter looked up from her computer and beamed as she saw Maria. The lobby was empty except for the three and Maria approached the counter cheerfully, finally loosening her grip on Dellion's one hand.
"Hello, Artemis! This is a new student, Dellion. I've asked her to be my dorm mate and she's agreed to be my dorm mate," Maria was saying. At that moment, the tiny, pink Squick wrapped around Maria's neck began to quiver and within seconds, there was a new message on Artemis's computer, stating that Maria and Dellion were now officially dorm mates. Artemis glanced briefly at the screen before turning her attention back to the two girls.
"Well, now that that's settled, welcome to our dormitories, Ms. Breonthal Shaindottse Dellion. We hope that you will have an enjoyable time," she said politely as she smiled at Dellion. |

Maria had dragged her from the gates to some sort of mansion-like place some way away from the gates. The sheer size of the surrounds and the strangeness of this culture would have sunk in more if they werenât moving at such an impossible pace (the fact that the grass they ran over curled up and crisped around the edges could serve as reasonable proof of the speed at which Maria went), but now that they had slowed down she could see the place properly now.
All she could say was that by contrast, Fermolstri land stood proudly as the pinnacle of normalcy. The sky there was not pink and the foliage did not have various shades of purple as its dominant colour. There were no such things as flying vehicles anywhere in the Mage Isles, never mind Fermolstri territory (at least not yet, but the Kostunei tribes under Bréon rule were working on it; her clan made sure of that). People did not walk around routinely with garishly coloured garments that clung so tightly to their bodies they might as well have been paint, and nowhere in her many travels within the Isles did she ever see girls with naturally-occuring silver-violet hair and cat ears.
Letting the pure surreal nature of this new place sink in further, she began to wonder if it was all a dream, or some sort of delusion brought on by the defective travelling circle. She attempted to levitate, one of her more common dreaming abilities. Nothing. She looked at her hand, and found no additional fingers or any sort of distortion. Plugged her nose. Same disappointment.
She shook her head.
But this couldnât be real, any of it. It was too... too--!
She jumped up in another attempt to defy gravity and prove this was just a dreaming exercise gone wrong, but her feet thudded to the ground much as they would have done in real life. Never mind the confused and slightly worried expressions of all those around her; they werenât real anyway. She repeated the experiment a few more times, but all the tests proved this was anything but a dream.
She growled. Stupid Fermolstri and their stupid travelling circles. Stupid pig-duck and stupid clan ranking rules. All of it was just so... so... She couldn't think of an appropriate word for it.
Maria had brought her to their room, an extravagant chamber where they were supposedly meant to live. She was not sure if even the Bréon clan leaders had their own dwellings this big or flashy. Walls not made of brick or wood or dung, painted with some sort of pigment that shone when the light hit it. A ceiling that was at least three feet taller than the tops of their heads. Windows, but redundant windows, as they did not appear to be for lighting or ventilation purposes. Two beds made of strange, smooth fibres and containing within them a material that gave way when pressed and bounced back when released. Two tables, smooth and large and strangely comforting.
A thudding sound jolted her out of her thoughts, and she saw that Maria had started unpacking her things from her cheerfully bouncing suitcases.
There is no need for me to unpack, Dellion thought, fingering a random pocket of her cloak. The enchanted pockets kept most of her possessions and stored them so that they had no evidence of existence until removed from the cloak, leaving little need for such follies as bags and closets.
She wouldâve had more things stored away in there if she had the means. Her people were working on the technology to fit an entire houseâs worth of possessions into a cloak. They werenât there yet, but they were close. She knew they were. Her people were the cleverest and best Mages in the Isles. If she knew anything she knew that, and now was the time to be a proper BrĂ©on and live up to their legacy.
All the same, though, she waited until she was sure Maria did not see her, and wrapped the cloak a little tighter around herself, hoping to smell the last fleeting traces of home before the cloak bore the scent of this new world. |

Maria's laugh rang clear and melodic around the room as she watched Dellion with amusement. She wasn't sure what the other girl was trying to do but seeing her do these seemingly random acts was a funny sight. Though, Maria worried that maybe Dellion was not quite sane, she dismissed the thought and hurriedly led her to their room.
For the first time since meeting Dellion, Maria left her new friend alone as she started to unpack her things. Even though three of her fathers were very capable wizards, Maria sometimes liked to do things the "Muggle" way. That is, by hand. And so it was that she unpacked her clothes without the help of magic. Of course, Maria herself was very good at magic. In fact, she had excelled as a student in Hogwarts and had impressed all her teachers. She had even received an offer from the Ministry but she refused because she had not wanted to live the life of a witch. Her part alien frog and part kitten bloods had urged her to try something more adventurous and so she had found herself in Teh University.
But that was two years ago and Maria was having so much fun in her new school! Everyone was so nice to her! And many of the students and faculty would greet her as she passed even if she didn't know them! When she had first entered, she had been very pleased that Teh University had given her a very warm welcome and the other students didn't stare at her cat ears whenever they appeared. That was a welcome change. She had tired of the stares that usually followed her in Hogwarts because of her unusual cat-ears. Not that they marred her beauty in any way! In fact, she had been told by many people that they were rather cute and many had even asked her if they could touch her cat ears to which she obliged. She didn't mind the attention one bit.
As Maria unpacked her clothes, she was already forming mental images of how she would look like in this blouse or that skirt or that pair of leather pants and her mind quickly remembered which clothes would complement each other. Because Maria had so many clothes, she always made it a point to place all the complementary pieces together so she wouldn't have to take so long finding the perfect outfit for that day. Usually, Maria liked this activity and spent the whole afternoon and the next morning just sorting but now, there was something that she wanted to do with Dellion and she was getting a little impatient that the task was taking too long to complete. So she arranged her clothes on the floor and muttered a spell that sent them flying to their places in the drawers or hung themselves in the closet. Maria watched contentedly as her clothes arranged themselves neatly before turning to Dellion.
"Dellion, honey---" she was starting to say when she noticed that Dellion didn't have any suitcases. Maria lifted a perfect eyebrow at her and looked at her curiously.
"But where are your suitcases? Surely you didn't come to Teh University in just... Those," it took all her willpower not to make a face as she gestured to Dellion's garb, a plain-looking deep purple dress and a billowing black cloak. Maria didnât know why she never noticed before but Dellion actually looked rather drab in her clothes.
Oh dear! I wonder if she has anything more... Colorful in her wardrobe. That simply will not do, Maria thought to herself as she assessed the pallid girl in front of her. |

A wall was fenced around a little village with the sign "Student's Residence" atop its gates, with a little guard post in a corner. The driver of the card presented some sort of I.D to the guard and the gates in turn sprung open, allowing entrance. Among all the buildings in the university, the dormitories seemed the closest to home, the architecture looked more human. In each corner were various mansion-like buildings, it looked like a typical posh American neighbourhood, with exaggerated landscapes that you could only see in five-star hotels. The car made a turn and stopped in front of one of the mansions with a little arrow sign saying "Qujexu" pointed at it. "This is it." Felix said. Lee eyed the structure, in contrast to all the things he had seen in this new world, this place wasnt of much surprise or awe to him. In fact, his family estates were much more grand than these houses would ever be.
They entered it. The furnishings were of typical human living, posh but typical in Lee's eyes. All there was in it was a grand lounging room, and behind a flight of stairs to the second floor. Every inch of the place was kept immaculate and clean. They made their way up and stopped to one of the doors in the hallways. Strange enough, Lee's door was somewhat farther from the others. When they opened it, it was just like a New York first class apartment. Complete with a living room, a mini-kitchen, a study room, a toilet, a bedroom, and even a separate closet. "Your room is the biggest in this residence, as ordered by your mother. You are fortunate your father is of the few people responsible for bringing humans to Teh Planet, in which case Teh University owes quite a lot to him." Felix said, as if asking Lee to show more appreciation to his parents. Lee didn't respond but continued to asses the place he was to live throughout his college years. "Your mother had Sheila Bridges design your apartment. What do you think?" He added. "I prefer my room in our Miami estate, much bigger and better looking." Lee responded, running his fingers through his study table. Felix gave him a look of disappointment followed by a brief silence.
"Dellion honey~" A distant perky female voice rang in Lee's ears like an electric current. Lee rushed out of the room and curiosly looked out to find the source, it came from the door not so far from his. |

Dellion drew herself up to her full height and glared at Maria down her long white nose. She felt the negative energy the girl had once she regarded her clothing properly. She may not have been able to use her powers all the time, but she was no fool. "You have a problem with what I wear?"
She continued before Maria could reply. "You know nothing about my culture and the significance of each of these items of clothing. My dress, I'll have you know, was dyed by the Kostunei tribes themselves." Maria's look was blank. "Kostunei. The Mage tribes from the-- Oh, right. Different world." Dellion rolled her eyes. "Never you mind about them, then. And no, I have no suitcases, and if I came here of my own accord I would have no need for them anyway."
She held up a corner of her cloak and indicated one of her many pockets, each of them about the size of a hand. "These pockets are enchanted. Each of them can hold the equivalent of two full-grown men in volume. This one," she dropped the cloak and held up another pocket, "holds my clothes. About five day's worth of regular clothing. I have another pocket for ceremonies and special occasions."
She considered Maria's somewhat sceptical look. "I shall show you." One by one she brought out her clothes and laid them on her bed. She could see this had started to convince her, and if she had two arms she would have crossed them proudly.
"See?"
The negative energy refused to change, and she could see the swirling translucent lines of purple flowing from Maria and circling around the clothes. Dellion sighed. If she was going to spend the majority of her time with this girl, she might as well try to make life pleasant for the both of them.
"All right, then, since you know better," she said. "What do you suggest?" |

Maria silently reprimanded herself as she silently listened to Dellion's tirade. She'd had no idea that such a simple garb could mean so much to anyone! She tried to appear interested as Dellion went on and on about the significance behind her clothes and watched with interest as Dellion showed her bewitched pockets.
"Yes, I remember some of the students in Hogwarts had bewitched trunks but bewitched clothes!" her eyes sparkled at the thought. Imagine that! She made a mental note to experiment on some of her clothes later.
That should be interesting. I can probably alter them a little, change the colour... she thought to herself excitedly.

At this, Maria looked up, a glint in her aquamarine eyes. She only just remembered that Dellion did not like being grabbed so she gently pushed her out the door.
"LET'S GO SHOPPING~!" Maria squealed. As she led Dellion down the hallway, she spotted Lee. Momentarily distracted, Maria stopped in the middle of the corridor and grinned at the boy.
"Why, hello. You must be new here. I'm Maria and this is Dellion. We're just about to go shopping. Come with us!" She urged, grabbing Lee's wrist. Captive Number Two. |

The mop made a sloshing sound as Noah dragged its wet, limp head of fabric strands across the once pristine floors marred by streaks of mud and assorted mystery stains he did not want to know the origin of. Meleaus was right. Noah really shouldâve known better than to throw a special start of school party for the Pharmacy students on school grounds. But really, how was he supposed to know that fifty Pharmacy majors could do so much damage to one section of the dorms? In most of their classes the Pharmacy majors showed they deserved their reputation as the most uptight and paranoid people on campus. One tiny party and it was all burping, swinging on chandeliers, purple paint fights and turning over cars.
He made a mental note to throw a party at the deanâs house next time the old man suspended him. All this high technology and he had Noah reduced to using a goddamn mop to clean up the place. What was this, Earth?
All the same, this wasnât all bad. There was something comforting in the cold feel of wet fabric and the hungry, sloppy sounds involved. He mopped a little slower and stopped to admire his work.
Freema, one of the hotter girls from campus, passed by the adjacent corridor and spotted him. Noah quickly kicked the bucket out of sight before she could guess what he was doing.
âHi, Noah!â she said. âGreat party yesterday!â
He slicked back his hair. âWell, I try.â
Freema simpered, and spotted his mop. âThey making you clean up?â
âWhat, me?â he said, puffing out his chest just a little. âNaaah. This is a prop for a⊠play Iâm in.â
She giggled. âOh, Noah. Youâre always joking. If that were a prop, it wouldnât be wet and neither would the floor, silly.â
He mock sighed. âAll right, you caught me.â he said. âOne of the droids broke down and I volunteered to help. But donât tell anyone, okay? I donât want people to think Iâm a pushover.â
âOh, youâre so thoughtful, Noah,â she said. âI wish my brother was more like that at home.â
Noah smiled. She was so his.
âAnyway,â she said. âIâve gotta go. Need to buy some stuff from the mall.â
They exchanged goodbyes, and she left with her equally hot and scantily-dressed friends.
Noahâs admiration for his work increased tenfold when he realised he could see under their skirts using the floorâs reflective surface.

Meleaus hummed on his way to class. Today was a good day. The sun shone brightly and the trees were good and fresh. He had a good breakfast on one of the oak trees. Those leaves were particularly good, and a lot tastier than oak leaves usually were. He smiled. Nothing could possibly ruin his â
âDUDE!â
A skinny but strong hand pulled him aside, and he found himself face to face with Noah, his dorm mate. Pure and absolute perverted joy beamed out of his face, which could only mean one thing.
âGirl?â Meleaus said.
âHOT girls, dude. HOT girls!â he said. âFreema! Freema and Billie and Cathy and the rest of the hot girls!â He veritably salivated. âSo hot.â
âYouâve said âhotâ four times in the last five sentences.â
Noah didnât appear to have heard him. âSo hot.â
âSounds⊠fun,â he said. âLook, Iâve got classââ
âClass?â Noah said. âItâs fucking adjustment week! We donât have class!â
âWe do. First thing on the schedule it saysââ
âForget the schedule! The teachers won't show up, anyway!â he said, and began to yank him along. âYouâre coming with me to the mall! I need someone uptight to make me look cooler!â |
